S: Situation

Describe the background or context.

T: Task

Explain your responsibility in that situation.

What goal or challenge were you assigned?

Example: “I needed to regain their trust and prevent churn.”

A: Action

Share the steps you took to fix the issue.

What did you do? How did you do it?

Example:  “I apologized, investigated the delay, coordinated with logistics and set new timelines.”

R: Result

Highlight the measurable outcome of your actions.

How did the situation end? What success did you achieve?

Example: “The customer stayed with us and increased their order the next quarter.”

Example answer: I enjoy interacting with people, understanding their needs, and helping them find the right solutions. Example answer: I start by researching their business challenges and goals. Then I initiate contact with a personalized message that focuses on how our solution can add value. I ask relevant questions, listen actively and tailor my pitch based on their responses. My aim is to build trust first, then guide them toward a solution that fits their needs.

Question #3: How do you handle rejection in sales?

Example answer: I see rejection as part of the sales journey, not a reflection of my ability. I stay positive, analyze what could be improved, and follow up when timing is better. Every rejection gives me insight into customer concerns and helps refine my approach for the next opportunity.

Question #4: Since you’re a fresher, how are you confident that you’ll succeed in a sales role?

Example answer: Even though I’m just beginning my career, I’ve already been in situations where I had to persuade people, handle objections, stay resilient and drive towards a clear goal.

For example, in my final year of college, our class had to raise sponsorships for a tech event. Many companies initially declined because they weren’t sure if they’d get visibility. I researched each company’s interests, customized a short pitch deck and positioned our event as a platform where they could reach students interested in their brand.  After multiple follow ups and handling concerns, I succeeded in getting 3 sponsors onboard, contributing almost 40% to the total funds raised.
